Hello World

and Blog World...it's been a LONG while. "Hello World" is one of my new favorite songs by Lady Antebellum. I like all of their songs on their new cd though!

Anyways...lots have happened since the last time I wrote on here. I ran in my first 1/2 marathon. I did the Rock n Roll San Antonio. It was so much fun be surrounded by thousands of athletes! My dad and aunt came out to Texas to watch me! We made a quick trip out of the deal and went to the Riverwalk when we were there.

Then came Christmas. Wes and I flew to GA...sister picked us up in Atlanta. We hung out with here in ATL for a night and then headed to Moultrie. We saw family and friends and then headed back north and up to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge for a few days. We stayed in a cabin tucked away in the woods and had a great time!

We rang in the New Year back in College Station! Wes has begun his final semester of his undergrad work. We are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I signed up for my 2nd 1/2 marathon for Mar. 7th...looking forward to it!

Other than that...we are just living and loving life. Hope all is well with you all!

WOW...sorry I haven't updated in a while. But some friends reminded me tonight that I have been going to West Texas for a while now...since June I guess! Well, really...I've just not had a whole lot going on to blog about...or have I??? Let's see what's went on since June:
  • Went to GA for about a week
  • Decided to sign up for my very first 1/2 marathon
  • Taught Jumpstart (summer school program)
  • Lots of reading and laying out
  • Bought a new car (LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!)
  • School started...what a CRAZY start...started off the year with 23 kiddos...had to hire a new teacher....things started settling down (if you can say settling down...a teacher is never settled) oh...and I'm grade level leader...can be a little overwhelming at times.
  • Started tutoring twice a week
  • Wes got his Aggie ring...WHOOP!
  • Aggie football games
  • Church activities
  • First ever flu shot
  • Baking /Cooking
  • Training for my 1/2 marathon...in week 7 of training
  • Starting to make Christmas gifts...LOVE IT!

Okay...so that's a few things that I can think of off the top of my head! So, nothing to exciting...but definitely staying super busy.

Off to West Texas

Wes and I went to West Texas (Midland) this past weekend to see one of his cousins get married. He wasn't too excited about the wedding...he wanted me to see West Texas. It wasn't a traditonal trip because they have had more rain than we have so it was much greener and cooler than it is supposed to be. I didn't get any pictures during the wedding...but here are a few from our trip.

On our way...it started raining and I loved the sunset.

Another view of the sunset...and wind turbines.

A wide open field with NO trees.

Lots of oil wells EVERYWHERE!

Another shot of the wind turbines as we were on our way back. There were TONS of them out there...pretty cool to see!

Fun Times...

My sister came to visit for a week. It was so good to have her here. We stayed a busy. We went and got a pedicure the day she arrived....that was nice to do together. Then the next day we went and saw Up in 3D which we really enjoyed. Later that day we went swimming and layed out. Then the next day we went and saw The Hangover, went to eat at Olive Garden, and went bowling. Fun day! Then we left early on Sat. morning to go tubing on the Guadalupe River. It was the perfect day and the river wasn't that cold. Then we went to San Antonio for the evening and went to the Riverwalk. We ate at Hard Rock Cafe on the Riverwalk and just walked around. We had a great time. On the way back the next day we stopped at the San Marcos Outlets and then came back to College Station. We watched Slumdog Millionaire that night...we liked it! On her last full day we layed out again and then had Schlotzsky's for dinner since she had never had it. We had to take her to the airport the next morning. She was here for a week and it went by too fast. Here are a few pictures from her visit.

Me and Jill...she had just gotten stuck on a rapid and had to get out of her tube so she is holding on to me now so she doesn't get left behind again.

Lady Antebellum

Carrie and Jason invited me to go with them to see Lady Antebellum at the Houston Rodeo. I've been dying to see them and when they asked me I jumped on the idea!!! Wes was not able to go because he had two tests this week and had to stay back. He was bummed about it! We had a great time! We ate at Pappados when we got down there and then went over to Reliant Stadium. This was my first rodeo and I enjoyed it! I'm from the country but I had never been to one. I'm still not a fan of bullriding and I'm not that big of a fan seeing the calves getting roped...so maybe I'm not a fan of rodeos! hahaha! But anyways...our main reason for going was to see Lady Antebellum anyways...we got to go backstage and Meet and Greet them. That was exciting! We also got to see Hillary afterwards! We had a GREAT time but I felt it the next day. Going on 4 1/2 hours of sleep just isn't enough for teaching 7 and 8 year olds! BUT...it was ALL worth it! I hope you enjoy the pics...they are not in any particular order!

New Toy

Wes and I finally got with the program and got a new tv. We weren't really wanting to spend all the money that would have to go into getting one but we bit the bullet and did it anyway. Now with our old entertainment center it would only hold a 27" so that meant getting rid of it and getting something else. After looking around for the "perfect" piece we ended up getting a t.v. stand at Wal-Mart. Now you think Wal-Mart...well, this piece of furniture is incredbile!!!! Check out this link: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=7732491 and you will see what we got. The drawers do not have to be in there so that's where we put our DVD player, receiver, etc. Then we bought our towers from a friend that is moving and doesn't have room for them and that match the stand PERFECT!!!! We are so happy with our new purchase and have enjoyed watching it! We went from a 27" to a 42" which is a big increase for our small place. We are having a great new year so far and we hope everyone else is also!!
